Sensio Spa Complete Hydrotherapy Facial Steamer Review

Sensio Facial Spa Unit with Review Title
As a long time fan of home spa treatments, I have, along with my daughter, sampled quite a few, from the home-made budget treatments, to the more luxurious versions that cost a bit more. It's always interesting to see what the results are like and whether they offer value for money. Facial spas are something I've tried before, but only the cheaper, older-style ones, where your face fits in a sort of mask. When I was offered the Sensio Spa Complete Hydrotherapy Facial Steamer to review, I could see things had changed a bit since then. It promised a complete spa experience, and I was keen to see if it would deliver.

The box arrived quickly and well-packaged and contained the unit itself, as well as a handheld device for cleansing and exfoliating, and a hot and cool bar. All the items felt solid and good quality. The hot and cool bar had a fairly long power lead and the cleanser-exfoliator required two AA batteries, which were not supplied. My initial impressions were that you get a lot for your money and all the items included were very simple to use. The hot and cold bar is something that I haven't used before, but it is designed to open your pores before you use the steam, using the hot setting, and then close them after the steam, using the cold setting. It's not very hot, really, just pleasantly warm. So the instructions say;

  1. Cleanse and exfoliate using the cleanser
  2. Open your pores using the hot and cool bar on the “Hot” setting
  3. Rehydrate the skin using the ionised facial steamer
  4. Close your pores using the hot and cool bar on the “Cool” setting
  5. Moisturise as usual with your favourite products

The only part that wasn't very clear was how long to use the steam for. The only instructions provided were on the side of the box, and although I didnt have any problems working out how to use it, I couldn't find any timings mentioned, so I have just been using it for as long as is comfortable, a bit like a sauna. It feels very soothing and relaxing and I really enjoyed the experience. I also felt, on a side note, that it might also be useful for providing steam relief for cold and flu sufferers, but this is obviously not proven!

The steamer is very easy to fill with the jug provided and the water heats to the required temperature for steam production in under a minute. The unit itself isn't huge, a bit smaller than a football, and weighs around 2kgs. It features a convenient carry handle and is no effort to lug around if you need to store it in a different room. The nozzle is adjustable to within 50 degrees up or down, so you can direct the steam exactly where you need it. I love how in-depth it is. I've had spa facials, and this feels just as thorough, but more relaxing, being in the comfort of your own home. The five step routine left my skin feeling really clean and I am confident this is something myself and my daughter will be using on a regular basis. Even with our completely different skin types, it does a great job of cleansing and refreshing the skin.

  1. I quite like the idea of being able to enjoy a spa treatment or two at home.

  2. How strange that it doesn't tell you how long to use it for - I've never used anything like this before so would find that a bit off putting!
    Thanks for sharing your review on #TriedTested this week x
