This photo was taken at Caen Hill Locks in Devizes. It's a unique arrangement of 29 locks in a row and it's fascinating to look at. Such is my husband's dedication to My Sunday Photo, he took this whilst balanced on top of the first of the 29 locks. Don't try this at home, folks!
29! Blimey - I'd never heard of anything like this before.
ReplyDeleteIt's not far from you, Devizes!
DeleteFab photo! I was wondering if it was Audlem locks (in Shropshire I think), but that is 'only' 17 locks. My MIL has a canal boat and we had a couple of happy holidays on it, way back in the day.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a great way to travel!
DeleteThat's a really cool photo. I'm really thinking about a canal holiday or trip soon, it's on my bucket list.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't start with this canal, if you do, it looks like hard work!
DeleteAlways have loved canals...locks fascinate me! #MySundayPhoto
ReplyDeleteMe too, sounds like it could be a fab day out for you as well!
DeleteWow, that's a pretty cool view. Don't usually see more than 2 or 3.
ReplyDeleteI didn't believe it til I saw it for myself it's mad!
DeleteFab photo! I have never seen that many locks in such a small space...
ReplyDeleteCouldn't help feeling sorry for the boat owners having to go through them all!
DeleteWow what a view, does someone have to lock and unlock them?
ReplyDeleteThank you for linking up
Yep. Coincidentally, when we got back there was a programme on TV all about it. They had celebrities having a go, so I know all about them now!
DeleteThat's some view, my OH would be in heaven with all those locks #MySundayPhoto
ReplyDeleteThat looks like hard work to get through #MySundayPhoto
ReplyDeleteI must ask my parents if they have used this flight of locks! They probably have! Great shot!
