Bosch Kettle TWK7602 Review

Blue Bosch Kettle
I randomly found this kettle reduced from £29.99 to £7.38 in Tesco and thought it would be rude not to buy it. Please don't rush out to buy one, as it was somewhat abandoned in the 'bargain bin', all by itself, so I have no idea if there are anymore available in other stores. Keep an eye out, if you are passing anyway, though, you never know what you might find! As it turns out, it's a really good kettle. It comes in three different colours. Cream, light blue and this darker blue, which looks a little different to the picture. It doesn't even look totally like the colour on the box, it's a little greyer. I would call it Petrol Blue. Something to bear in mind if you want it to go with a particular colour scheme.

As soon as I took it out of the box, I was aware it was a Bosch. It had that certain quality about it; sturdy, with no flimsy parts, but not at all heavy. This is a big deal to me, because if it's got any weight in it when it's empty, it will be very hard for me to lift when it's full. It holds a fairly standard 1.7 litres, which is enough to make 5 good sized mugs. However, it boils so much quicker than its predecessor; 2 cups from cold takes just 1 minute 20 seconds! The on switch glows bright orange when it's switched on, which is a useful feature, although it boils so quickly, you don't get long enough to forget you've switched it on! It's also very compact in size, a good few inches smaller than the other kettles in the shop, which is great for a smaller kitchen. Its short stature is also really handy, if there is anything in the sink when you want to fill it, as you don't end up dipping it in the sink! The base is the same size as the unit, which is a huge bonus, not just because it makes it space efficient, but also because it won't collect dust and crumbs, making it easier to keep clean.

As the wife of a night worker, my only slight niggle with it, is that it does seem rather noisy. If I don't shut the door, I can hear it two rooms away, but I guess this is the price you pay for speedy boiling. So comitted am I to providing an accurate review, I made some more tea, just to establish if you could make a second cup without re-boiling it. You can. 15 minutes after making the first cup, I made a second and it was still perfectly hot. And it was lovely, thank you. The kettle features a 70cm power chord, which can be neatly stored within the base, for safety and general tidiness. It spins 360 degrees on its base, so you can have it facing either way, if you are right or left handed. There is also a scale and viewing window on both sides, for this purpose. Other features include a limescale filter, useful if you live in a hard water area, and a safety off switch. In conclusion, I am really pleased with this kettle and I think it would be well worth the money at full price, but I do love a bargain!

  1. I like the little white trim around the base, it looks very smart! Buying a kettle should be so simple but it really isn't - it's something we use so much that the slightest design flaw soon becomes a major irritant. Ours is fab in most respects but I made the mistake of buying a kettle in glossy black so it constantly looks grubby and covered in finger marks...

  6. Definitely seems like a bargain to me - even despite the noise. I had a similar thing with a reduced price toaster which I had to buy. I think I like it even more because I know it was good value!

  8. I do love a good bargain and sounds like you got a brilliant one there. Homebase is another place that practically gives away stock when they are changing seasons

  13. Thats a great bargain. Everyone needs a decent kettle. Shame about the nose but at least you know if someone drops it, it's not going to shatter into bits.

  14. Great bargain for that price, Lucy! I don't think there are any kettles that can boil water fast without making noise, unfortunately.xx
