My son will be getting his own room in the next few weeks after spending his entire life sharing. Like most people I imagine, I have often wondered how I would furnish it if my budget was totally unlimited. So, purely for my own amusement, here is a list of my top picks for the modern nine year old boy! Firstly, I have to say, this is not a big room, it's a very small room. So, as much as I would love to get a bed with a ladder and a slide, or one shaped like a camper van, or something, I have to be practical, so the emphasis is on space-efficient.

Bristol Bits: Millennium Square, Harbourside Water Features Safety Concerns
Last week we visited one of our favourite local haunts. I mentioned it in #40DaysofSummer last year and it even got its own blog post, Bristol does Summer, but this story has a slightly different ending. From museums, more museums, to parks, to crazy sculpture trails (this year it's Shaun the Sheep!), there is something for even the most discerning of small people to enjoy. Now and again, we take the bus into town, to find something fun to do. Every city has its benefits and one of Bristol's is its vast array of free things to do. Including wonderful water sculptures in the fabulous surroundings of Bristol's Millennium Square.

Win Sergei the Meerkat!
I love meerkats, especially taking photos of them, as shown in last week's Silent Sunday. One of my lovely friends commented that he would look just right with a coat on, in manner of Aleksandr Orlov, which did make me smile. I had a rummage in the prize cupboard and, although I didn't have an Aleksandr, I did find a cuddly Sergei. I think he would love a new home, so I am offering him to one of you to win. Make your way through the astoundingly easy Rafflecopter below, and may the best Meer-friend win!

Agreeing with Davina McCall on Relationships
Davina McCall got herself into a bit of hot water recently by being a bit too honest about her marriage and relationships. Personally, I don't think there is anything wrong with speaking your mind and being candid, particularly about something you are proud of. It's becoming rarer that people can talk about their marriage in terms of double figures, so why shouldn't she share her tips? The interview involved comments she made about her relationship with her husband and, as with all comments taken out of context, this one quickly became a beacon for feminists to flock to.
