Hillcroft, Redhill - Amazing Accommodation near Bristol Airport

Hillcroft, Redhill Title text over a picture of one of the bedrooms at HillcroftWhen you are travelling abroad, for work or pleasure, you are going to want it to be as stress-free as possible. Smaller airports, such as Bristol, are a great option for this, as they offer a more relaxed journey, since they don't have lots of terminals and miles of travelators just waiting for you to get lost in. Another stress-reducing option for the start of your travels is to find a great, reasonably priced hotel near the airport, so that you don't have to worry about your car, or getting stuck in traffic. I have discovered the perfect location for this, perfectly set up for short overnight stops and situated just three miles from Bristol Airport. Here is a review of our stay at Hillcroft Accommodation in Redhill.

Hillcroft offers self catering apartments, and glamping options for a longer stay, as well as overnight rooms. The overnight rooms are perfectly proportioned for a short stopover and include an en suite bathroom, with shower. Our room was a double room and we could park right outside. You can leave your car there whilst you are on holiday for an additional fee, but we left ours at home and got a lift. Hillcroft is reported to be one mile from the airport, but I think this might be 'as the crow flies', since we found it to be closer to three miles and certainly not walkable for us with suitcases. However, a taxi cost £11, which I thought was pretty reasonable for 4.30am. We used Arrow Cars and the driver was bang on time and pretty cheerful for that time of day! They also offer fixed fares and can give you a price in advance, which is always handy.

The room is perfectly set up for arriving and leaving at any time, which is great for airport stays. We arrived at about 10pm and were greeted by the owner, who was very welcoming. However, if you arrive at a time when no one is around, the room will be left open for you, which is handy if you are not feeling particularly sociable after a long journey! We paid around £60 for this room, plus the en suite and despite being very close to the airport, we weren't disturbed by noise at all. I didn't do a lot of sleeping, as it was so comfortable, I was worried I wouldn't wake up in time for our early flight, but it was certainly a very pleasant place to spend the wee small hours, even if I couldn't sleep.

The room was well stocked with everything we needed and was very clean and well presented. Breakfast was provided in the form of tea, coffee, juices, brioche and cereal bars. I thought this was a brilliant idea, and was very much appreciated at 4am when we didn't know when we would get our next meal. I really can't recommend this place enough, they really have gone so far out of their way to make it stress-free and it just works, right from arrival, which couldn't be more relaxed, to a clean and pleasant stay, to leaving, where you just leave the door unlocked and drive away. Next time you travel from Bristol, this is the place to stay, it made the start of our holiday so relaxed and enjoyable.

  3. This looks so lovely. That breakfast idea is so good, as if you don't even fancy it at early o'clock you can grab it and take it with you. So often we miss the included breakfasts as we have left too early

  9. This is the problem with airport hotels - you are so wound up about getting to the plane on time that you can’t sleep, however comfy you are!!

  12. This looks like a great place to stay. I love all those little touches, and how much nicer to stay in than some ghastly corporate hotel that most airports offer.
