Help Hannah's Head Shave!

My friend Hannah is losing her hair. Not through stress, or to relive the skinhead days of the 80's, but for a very good reason. Like me, she is a previous supporter of The Little Princess Trust, donating her hair to make wigs for children, but this time, she is going a bit further. As Hannah is one of life's lovely people, who is always the first to offer support or help to others, I thought it would be really nice to get behind her and share her story in the hope of raising more publicity, and hopefully more money, for a very worthwhile cause. I would really appreciate it if you would read on to find out all about Hannah, her mum and the fate of her lovely hair.

Hannah is a hero. She is a genuine superhero and that is the first thing you should know about her. I always think it's important to get things in the right order, so we will start with that positive fact. If you read her blog, Hannah Spannah, you will soon realise all the reasons why she is amazing. She is a single parent, a chronic illness sufferer and a brilliant, candid, insightful blogger. It's not always easy to cope with everything life throws at you when you suffer with a chronic pain condition, but to manage to raise children and blog too, is a real challenge. Below is a picture of Hannah, looking particularly determined! On top of all of the above, she is also supportive, cheerful and has time for everyone. So she really deserves a break, right? Well, yes, of course, but, life being what it is, she is actually now going through something even more horrible. Hannah's mum is suffering from Stage 4 terminal cancer. Terminal. A word no one should ever have to hear about someone they love.

Like all her friends, my first thought was 'what can I do' and, of course, the answer was; not a lot. But I can do this. I can appeal to anyone who reads this (if anyone does!) to get behind Hannah and show her how much we hate cancer and how much love there is out there for anyone who suffers at its hands. On 26th of January, Hannah is shaving her head to raise money for two charities; The Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation and Harrogate Hospital. During my own fundraising efforts, I learned how important social sharing and publicity is, so, even if you can't donate (money can be scarce in the post-Christmas slump), please help to spread the word. Share, tweet, pin, whatever you can, to give her the best chance of raising some money to help show cancer the door. This illness is vile, spiteful, and indiscriminate. Sadly, there are not many of us that haven't been affected by its curse and this is an opportunity to pull together and #StandUpToCancer. Please donate if you can, or use your social media channels to show Hannah that we are behind her, and her mum, every step of the way. Thank you for your support.

  5. Bookmarking to donate. Roy Castle foundation is sadly very close to my heart. My Dad died in late 2016 of lung cancer (he never smoked!) and I am looking to raise money for cancer research this year in his name. She sounds like a truly inspirational lady.

  11. Wow, she is so amazing!!! What an incredible cause she's doing it for. I have no words for what she must be going through with her mum right now, but for her to continue doing such beautiful acts in spite of horrible things going on around her is inspiring. x
