BLOODHOUND SSC: The Most Awesome Science Experiment Ever

Rear view of Bloodhound Supersonic Car with title overlaidRecently, L and I went on a little adventure and it was so exciting, we've been dying to share it with you! Not a million miles away from where we live, here in Bristol, contained within a non-descript warehouse on a generic industrial estate, there resides a group of some of the most inquisitive and formidable minds on the planet. As the trucks rumble past and the world carries on its day, they are busy creating something magificent. It's 44ft long, weighs 7.5 tonnes and could lap Usain Bolt before he even left the blocks. If it could turn corners, anyway. So, what is this mysterious monster of a machine? It is... *drumroll* ... The BLOODHOUND SSC.

Help Vicky get a New Motor Chair and Transform her Life

My friend Vicky is beautiful, glamourous and always smiling. She is someone I envy very much. She has so much talent for perfecting complicated make up looks that I wouldn't even be able to attempt, without looking like a panda who came second in a punch up down a coal mine. She's also a talented writer and has written for many different publications, as well as her own blog; Around and Upside Down, where she talks about all sorts of subjects, including her family life, fashion and beauty. So that's Vicky, someone who lights up my world with her huge smile and sparkly, fabulous outfits. But there's more. Vicky has EDS.

Scary Encounter with Sinking Mud on Burnham-On-Sea Beach

I've lived near the South West coast for most of my life and was brought up with stark warnings about not walking out onto the mudflats. The mudflats are the exposed area between the shoreline and the sea which, most of the time, seems to be about five miles out from the shore. This is how Weston got its nickname; Weston-Super-Mud! Every year, the coastguard rescues groups of people who have ignored the warnings and ended up stuck in the sticky sinking mud. However, when L encountered the sinking mud, it was close to shore and indistinguishable from the usual puddles you get when the tide goes out, or it has rained a little.

Fantastic Time at LEGOLAND Windsor Resort

Boy standing at the gates of LegolandMy son L is totally obsessed with Lego. He has been for about six years. My Lego-strewn carpet and reinforced slippers are testament to this fact. So it is understandable that his Holy Grail of destinations is always going to be LEGOLAND Windsor. Pricewise, it is comparable to other theme parks, but it does work out expensive for a family of four, if you are on a budget. However, we managed to get two tickets from Sun Perks and another two with my Tesco Clubcard. It costs £13.50 in Clubcard vouchers, as opposed to up to £50 for a day ticket on the gate, so definitely worth doing! It was such a fantastic day, for a variety of reasons and I'm going to try to condense the whole experience into one reasonably sized post, which won't be easy!

What Do You Want for Your Children? - A Poetry Wave

A duck and her ducklings on a river bankI had an idea for a poem and as I started writing, I realised it was going to be really difficult to finish. The subject, originally, was 'What I Want for My Children', and it was meant to be a little poem about all those things we wish for our children as they grow and make their own way in the world. It got me thinking, though, that there are probably a hundred different wishes we would make for our children, which gave me an idea. It would be really interesting to hear different people's ideas for their children's future. Please add a verse in the comments, if you would like to.

Why I Didn't Change my Profile Picture for Orlando

An olive branch graphic with Remembrace and Peace text. At 2am local time on Sunday 12th of June, tragedy struck in Orlando. Innocent people suffered at the hands of hatred and violence. All over the world people felt pain, anger, despair. They wanted to join together in friendship and solidarity. To find solace in a shared disbelief at the events that had unfolded. Social media, by its very nature, provides a platform for people to come together with a shared purpose. As with Paris and Brussels before it, profiles across social media lit up with colour to show support for the American people and remembrance for their loss.

Father's Day Craft; Make A God's Eye Decoration

God's eye decorations in different colourwaysThis is a craft that The Husband suggested. I had never made one before, but they are surprisingly easy to do. So easy, in fact, that even he can do it! What makes them especially appropriate for Father's Day, is that you can alternate the colours, so they can represent a football team, or the colours of a flag. Anything that makes them individual. The process of making them is actually really relaxing and I can't recommend it enough for unwinding after a stressful day.

Something for Granddad, with Howick and House of Fraser

Howick Harvard Pique Polo Shirt in blueI struggle with Father's Day, I'll be totally honest. I don't know why I find it so hard to cope with, but I either forget the husband, or my own dad, I can't remember both at once. I always end up leaving it far later than I would like to, particularly if I need to post something! This year though, we have been sent something lovely to review, from the House of Fraser Father's Day range which is just perfect for my dad and L was keen to help out and full of reasons why Granddad should get something special.

Father's Day Gift Guide; Something a Bit Different!

Wooden 40 year calendar from Timber TreasuresWhen I'm looking for inspiration for presents, I get some of my best ideas from Facebook. For some reason, all sorts of interesting stuff pops up on my timeline and I often make a note of it for a particular birthday or anniversary. It seems these days, it's a lot easier to get something truly unique and specific to an individual and it's great to show that person how much you value them, by finding a really thoughtful gift. Since Father's Day is one of the most difficult occasions to buy for, I thought I would share some of the ideas I've found. This is not a sponsored post, it's just a great opportunity for me to give a leg up to small businesses that I've either used myself or would really love to try and will hopefully give you some new ideas for awkward man-gifts too!

5 Ways to Get, and Stay, Motivated!

I originally started this as a post mainly aimed at other bloggers, since this is an area many of us struggle with. I blog for fun, but sometimes I can't think of anything to write, don't think anyone ever reads it and it all becomes a bit of a chore. I don't want to stop doing it, but I do want it to be something I enjoy doing, so I have to make sure I keep myself motivated and positive. It turns out, anyone can suffer from demotivation in any job. Even if you don't have a job, actually. That can be the most demotivating situation of all. So, hopefully, these ideas might provide a bit of inspiration to help you find your inner dynamo!
