True White Mirai Toothbrush - Review and Giveaway

Mirai Toothbrush Packaging - RedI love gadgets and I'm especially fond of toothbrushes. It might sound a bit bonkers, but I have always felt you should invest as much as you can in your teeth. Dental work is very expensive, not to mention pretty unpleasant! A little time and money spent now, could prevent a lot of pain, and even more money spent, later on. It's also reassuring to know you are doing the best for your teeth. You only get one adult set, after all. So, when True Company offered to send us a new design of toothbrush, worth £150, to review, how could I say no? Curiosity won me over and I couldn't wait to give it a try. The good news is, they have also agreed to send one to a lucky winner, so don't forget to enter the competition at the bottom of the post!

When the Mirai Toothbrush arrived, it was presented in a high quality box, with all the hallmarks of being a superior product. The instructions were brief, but very straightforward, and told me all I needed to know about my new gadget. It looked pretty space-age and was smaller than I was expecting, but with a much bigger head than I'm used to. There are various levels of vibration, allowing for personal preference, all providing a gentle, but effective massage motion. The appliance is made entirely of silicone and is very comfortable to hold. The silicone promotes good hygiene by fighting the build up of bacteria and promoting a much more sanitary experience. The high-intensity pulsation is far removed from the usual heavy-duty vibration from a cheaper device, that can be overpowering and lead to an uncomfortable ringing in the ears. It is surprisingly powerful though and might be worth starting on a lower setting to begin with, if you are not used to it.

Mirai Toothbrush Bristles
The biggest difference I noticed, compared to my usual model, was in the bristles. As you can see from the picture above, they are tapered, and quite chunky. This feels a little strange to begin with, and takes a bit of getting used to. When I used it for the first time, the effect wasn't as obvious as I was used to, and I was unsure if it was as thorough. Once I had finished though, I was immediately pleased with the result. Straight away, it felt as good as a professional polish and this made me realise that, over time, this product, despite the cost, could pay for itself. There were only a couple of minor negatives. The appliance is charged via a USB, which is a little less convenient than having the charger available in the bathroom where you are inevitably going to use the product. The silcone also delivers a sightly strange taste and sensation. I quickly got used to it, and I am happy to say it is my preferred device now, but,  I will admit, initially, it was a bit like chewing a flip flop. However, I would highly recommend persevering with this new design, as it offers a sparkling result in spite of it's smaller size!

  7. When my kids were small I used to whip the tooth away and pop it in a little box, leaving 50p behind (quite generous in those days) - not sure what I was going to do with old teeth lol but there you go. My son found them one day and put the lot under his pillow in the hope of a bumper windfall.

  17. Our tooth fairy seems to be pretty rubbish at the moment. She always seems to be a couple of days late.
I have to make sure the children realise just how busy she is and that sometimes she just can't get here straight away.

While cleaning his teeth hr suddenly did and said "oh I wonder if the tooth fairy's been" With horror I realised she very definitely hadn't, managed to shut the door and keep him in the bathroom, ran to hubby's wallet which amazingly had £1 coin in it, and quickly did the switch. All was well when he went to check after finishing his teeth. pheeeeeew

  30. I just remember being a child and having a wobbly tooth, I woke up and my tooth had gone and there was no money under my pillow I was not happy. After a few days I ended up finding that as I was sleeping on my bunk bed my tooth had fallen out and to the back of the bed I was so ecstatic when I found it and the next morning there was a nice shiny pound under my pillow :)

  31. Many (many) years ago now we were down on the beach at Stevenston with the three youngest children. One of the boys ( both 10) shouted "oh loom there is the ferry" and daughter 6 replied what the tooth fairy? where I cant see her? So instantly the boys played along and said she was on the ferry and was going to Arran, so DD3 believed for a long while that the tooth fairy lived on Arran and took the ferry home every morning.
Love your comment about chewing a flip flop, the first sonic brush I tried I was not so sure about either.

  37. My son always wanted to meet the tooth fairy so used to hide his tooth in the hope that they would wake him up to ask him where the tooth was! Complete nightmare.

  38. My child once thought she would outwit the tooth fairy by not telling anyone that her tooth had come out! Outcome was one very upset child unfortunately and one very guilty mum for not noticing!

  39. Tooth fairy did one 'forget' and then left like, a fiver instead. This was my parents by the way, not me. And the recipient was my brother, not me :(

  41. We was on holiday in spain and I only had peseta currency at the time when my daughter lost her first tooth, so I put the smallest note which I thought was around a £5 but was in fact around £45!!!

  42. Our front door led onto a corridor in a sheltered housing where my mum was the warden. For some reason we put our teeth under the front door mat and covered it in salt. I used to cover mine in loads of salt so i could see if the tooth fairys hoovered as well. My mum must have been really annoyed having to not only leave the money but also to have to clean up all the salt x

  43. we've forgotten to do the tooth fairy on more than one occasion. The first excuse we used was, the weather was so bad, the tooth fairy couldn't get here and another one was, their bedrooms were so messy, the fairy couldn't actually get into the room!

    ReplyDelete
  44. I once forgot to leave the £1 under my daughters pillow and had to make up a very hasty excuse when she came down the stairs in the morning with the tooth in her hand. I said the tooth fairy had rung to apologise for not collecting the tooth and had promised to double the reward instead!

  45. When my son's first tooth fell out we left it by the bed and in the night the tooth fairy came and left some money. Being young he totally believed it all....until some time later when he found the tooth wrapped in tissue safely stored away in a purse!! He was most upset that the tooth fairy was not real!

  47. my childrens tooth fairy is usually pretty reliable, until my daughters last tooth (i forgot! no excuse, just completely slipped my mind) that night i had to write a little note, covered in glitter and gems from 'the tooth fairy' explaining she had too many teeth that night and didnt have time to get to everyone, she left £1 and a new fairy money box to put her money in :)

  48. When my daughter lost her first tooth she asked me what the tooth fairy does with the teeth. I told her that the tooth fairy makes a magical pearly necklace with the teeth. She looked at me her eyes big and bright, "so that's why teeth get holes in them to make it easy for the tooth fairy." She said innocently. I laughed so much my stomach hurt.

  49. My children always got the tooth fairy visiting and leaving a £2 coins under their pillows. My daughter called it a gold coin.

  50. I don't remember anything unusual from being tooth fairy to my daughter. It was funny at the time remembering how much we would get and how much should a child now get. She always knew it was us really, but fun to pretend.

  51. My granddaughter stayed over and I knew she had a very wobbly tooth but it hadn't fallen out. In the morning she was very upset that the tooth fairy hadn't been and showed me that her tooth had come out after she went to bed, she had put it under her pillow expecting the tooth fairy to turn up. I had to tell her that as she was not at her own house the tooth fairy had probably not been able to find her as my house is not on the route because no children live here. She bought it and took it home and the tooth fairy visited the next night. Bad Grandma for not knowing to check under the pillow.

  52. I told the little one that the fairy had been delayed (I forgot) and to take a small coin from my purse for a lollipop as compensation. My sister took her to the ice-cream van and I was horrified to find that she took £5 note and bought a big ice-cream and sweets!

  64. One night the tooth fairy "forgot" to visit my daughter. The next morning, as she went downstairs to tell her dad, the tooth fairy made a "late" visit and popped the money under the pillow but, being the top bunk, was able to find the tooth to remove it. My daughter was told to check properly that the tooth fairy hadn't been and to check again. She went and checked and came back and confirmed that the tooth fairy definitely hadn't been!! So, in order to preserve the tooth fairy's identity for a bit longer, she paid another visit that night and removed the existing tooth. However, the tooth fairy never did discover whether my daughter was extremely crafty or whether the first coin had mysteriously disappeared!

  65. Well my God-Daughter Sophie keeps telling me the more teeth she looses the more money she gets per tooth so I asked her where she got this information from & she replied the Tooth Fairy whispered it to me & she said that mum don't give me enough money as the tooth Fairy counted the money! My reply was oh right as I was was rather speechless!!
