Ode to Too Much Junk Mail!

Close Up of Letter BoxStop shoving stuff through my door,
It’s really becoming a bore,
All kinds of media tat,
Arrives on my mat
And I really can’t take anymore!

Every day with a sure certainty,
There arrives, more or less, half a tree,
Of leaflets and bumf,
Political gumf,
And an advert for podiatry.

The wastage is surely a sin,
As every last one hits the bin,
Fed up with the clutter,
I angrily mutter,
How will I fit them all in?

If I wanted to sponsor a cat
Or shed some of my unwanted fat,
I’d get on the ‘net,
And here’s a safe bet,
I would find info as easy as that!

The days of the leaflet are dead,
None of them ever get read,
The environment’s fine,
As it’s all there online,
So let’s stick with ‘virtual’ junk mail instead!

    1. I get the most random stuff, like pet ads, when I don't have animals and lots of leaflets about selling my (rented!) house! People need to do their research!

  6. Great poem. I'd much rather "virtual" junk mail too as at least paper isn't going straight into the recycling bin.

    1. Emails can be a pain as well, but so much easier to dispose of and unsubscribe from too!

  7. Great poem - and totally agree with it all - junk mail is such a waste of resources, and don't get me started on the free Yellow Pages and Thomsons directories! There really needs to be a law against this sort of junk!

    1. Yes, definitely! Directories are a waste of space for most people too when it's all online!

    1. If I must have junk, email is a bit less intrusive and easier to remove, but I do wish they would all just bog off, if I'm honest!
